I recently built a shiny new machine with a Radeon R9 280X, and thus far all of my GPU tasks have failed. Here's a sample from a recently failed task:

dnetc v2.9109-518-CTR-10092921 for ATI Stream on Win32 (WindowsNT 6.1).

Essentially it says it's not your fault the project can't handle the AMD R series cards yet.

Bummer, that means I no longer have any host that is capable of GPU crunching for this project. No ATI support for Mac, and the GeForce 320M on my MacBook Pro also errors out 100%.

I haven't quite figured out what will happen to my old HD 4870, but it will probably make its way back onto the project via another machine on my team. Guess the rest will be running Einstein and others for now, hopefully things will change soon.

Yeah Moo seems to be waiting for Boinc to fix it while several projects fixed it on their own. You DO have the APP SDK stuff installed...RIGHT? If not you can get it here http://developer.amd.com/tools-and-sdks/opencl-zone/amd-accelerated-parallel-processing-app-sdk/

In the R serie cards, and from now on, AMD has disabled something that we crunchers use, this makes the card compatible again. We crunchers are a VERY small part of their sales and it's not helpful to gamers and super computers, their main focus.

I thought the SDK wasn't needed after a certain version of the Catalyst drivers? I didn't have it installed on the 4870, nor do I have it on the R9 280X and it's dong work just fine for other projects.

It's the APP part you might need, some projects need it and some don't, and some project won't work even if you do have it. The R Series, and above, gpu's by AMD ALL have the CAL stuff disabled or not installed t all. The APP stuff kinda sorta makes it crunch with it.
