And we've made it through another one. I think it'll be the same for the rest of the year (and the decade). :)

Yep, what a disgrace some of these Project Admins are.

And another month down with no action from any Project Admin/Dev.

And another month. What a fricking joke!

FFS! They're stuck in the 90s with IRC lol

Whats the problem? If you only need a chat with good privacy it's definitly better than discord.

The problem is that I'm sick of Project Admins/Devs not given a shite about the volunteers who do the work for them. Also sick of people defending these absentee Admins/Devs.

And what does IRC have to do with that? I agree the project is dead there a no excuses. Unfortunately there are only a few good projects like numberfields@home :(

Eric over at NumberFields is one of the best Project Admins/Devs...other Project Admins/Devs need to be more like him.

I contacted them via IRC, and one of the developers wrote that the fix is in progress, but he couldn't give a specific target date for when it will be released. It could be weeks, but it could also be months.

In any case, it's quite sad that there has been no communication from them for years.

Where is the Dev you got in contact from, Moo or distributed.net?

Great, thanks. I've sent PMs but got no response as usual. Calling it sad is being too nice lol.

This is ridiculous and shame on these Projects who can't be bothered to do anything to help the volunteers.

Distributed Computing is just going down the drain anymore with the attitude of these Projects and the Admins/Devs. They just take our computing power, but don't bother to keep up with any new developments or problems.
11) Questions and Answers : Wrapper and Client : We need a 64bit GPU app for RTX 5000 and newer GPUs (Message 8725)
Posted 19 Oct 2025 by bluestang
Post:
NVIDIA no longer supports 32bit apps, so RTX 5000 and newer GPUs can not run Moo.

Please update or create an new wrapper for 64bit so these GPUs can run Moo. It is only going to get worse as newer GPUs come out.

Come on devs! Let's get this done!

Thanks in advance for the hard work.

I doubt that the project administrator can do anything, since the distributed.net client does not support 64-bit GPU applications on Windows OS
The distributed.net client is open source, so actually the project administrator of Moo! can do something about it. The Android version is not from distributed.net either, at least I don't see it anywhere on their page.

Well, hopefully they'll get off their tushes and get gong on the 64bit version.

Can't believe some of these devs are still living in a world 10-15+ years ago with 32bit apps.

This needs to be addressed and fix. GPUs are only going to get newer and newer and drivers stop supporting this old written crap.

You don't want to run the CUDA app on Nvidia GPUs as OpenCL runs best. It may take a while for the project to go through all the CUDA apps before it figures out the OpenCL runs the best so be patient. Also, make sure you leave a free CPU thread open for it so it keeps your GPU fed.

wee still got cunda31 task on nv 3090.
how is bout project? uupdates?

Used to only take a couple hours or so for it to figure out the CUDA31 sucks and OpenCL is better. Now it runs days and days with never switching to the better app.

Not sure what happened to this project, but seems admins are MIA and don't give a shite.

Pretty disappointing!

Yes, this is a horrible implementation of supplying slow arse CUDA31 tasks to fast GPUs on newly attached machines. Very inefficient and are watse of energy and time.

Please consider changing your system to have the server make the switch sooner. It shouldn't take as long as it does.

Would be nice if they updated the CUDA app to use newer versions of CUDA too. Would be much faster and use the GPU fully.

I have 2 computers that I have recently starting crunching Moo on again and all the tasks that I have downloaded are not showing as "In Progress" under my account on the site. Not show "Pending" or "Valid" or anything.

Is there something wrong with the site? Looks like my credit is climbing so that's a good thing I guess.
