You can still read them, so no censorship. ;-)
This is to stop people from bumping ancient threads, useful on active forums, here locking threads automatically after 6 months is of course completely useless.

I don't understand people's aversion to necro posting. If a subject matter is still relevant, then the conversation never needs to end. For example, I had a question about a game which wasn't working right. I found someone else asking the same question 2 years ago. I finally fixed the problem myself, so I replied to the post with the solution. If anyone else has the same problem, they'll now find it on google.

Well, in general me too, never seen a case, where this was a real issue, the issue are usually just the people complaining/ranting about it for a week or two and to avoid this, this feature was integrated into nearly every forum software. On small forums like this one here it is however just an annoyance, nearly all threads locked.
