I clock memory down for this project to help minimise temps.
Would increasing mem clocks improve performance at all?

No - its the same core app (given its a slightly different version)as DNETC with the same BOINC Wrapper around it. As for them, memory bandwidth makes no difference, as the size of data sets going back and forth CPU/GPU/CPU are relatively small. Its the same as with MW, GPU memory bandwidth is not relevant. Ok, go below - (say) - 200 and you might find a difference, dont know - after all it needs some bandwidth - but certainly no point keeping it above 300.

Its different to Collatz where the data sets are huge. There it has to reserve the same size of main memory, in order to collect and collate the sets before transfer to GPU, as is used in each GPU (30% of GPU card memory)

You would not lose anything by trying @(say)500 though - it would just increase heat and power, as long as the increase in heat doesnt force a reduction in GPU - which maybe the case if you are already on the edge of going full stretch.

Depending on the PSU, there might be a power issue, the increase in power is small, but there is one, and if the PSU is on the edge, could be a problem. Latter being a problem is a faint probability, but possible and needs keeping in back of the mind in case "wierness" ensues after the change

Other than on Collatz I generally run memory as low as Afterburner will let me....600 in this case.

May well be able to do this with NVidia, dont know, but if you are AMD, you can access the configuration file for the card (works for 58XX and 5970, no idea about the others). The limitation is purely the software for CC, the card is easily capable of setting the memory lower, there is no hardware limitation in that regard. I run my 5970s at 300 here. Afterburner sometimes lets you go that low, but its a pain and most times doesnt play.

If you want to give it a go, shout, happy to post directions for it, easily done - I dont want to post screen shots et al on spec.

I'd be very interested in instructions how to down clock mem speed for my 5850. Am now using 500 MHz - the lowest CCC allows - but would give 300 MHz a go to see how it affects temp, fan speed and noise.

Have a go with this download - its ok its safe - yell if problems and I'll link the individual files here. There is a .txt and a .rtf file in there as well as screen shots, its the same information just two different file formats to cover all bases.

If any problem PM or Post, either way no problems.

Lower AMD Memory via Configuration file

Its a bit wordy wordy, usual story need lots of ramblings first, but once you done it once, you click how simple it is and subsequent changes you will do in less than a minute. Its possible you may have to reboot after changing, try it without reboot, should work .... if not reboot. Dont touch the other values until you learn more about the preset file and what each value/entry does.

A note of reassurance, all thats happening is you are changing the memory bandwidth value, that is a completely benign change, no chance of doing harm - unless you change it to an outrangeously silly high number - but that one would be down to you :)
