Suggest you put up a Donation Page - it is effective in the long run and will at the least take the "edge" off running costs, if not cover them completely.

Personally I think Willy has it nailed with the layout of his donation page at BOINCStats. Its clear exactly what he is asking for and why, and is meticulous in keeping it all open and therefore seen to be above board - not that he would do anything but the latter of course, however its important to be seen doing the latter.

Could do worse than take a similar layout for a donation page here.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm planning to enable donations when we reach a certain point of stability and completeness. Perhaps when we are in beta or production status and not alpha like we are now. I'm not sure yet what that means, though. :)

Donation page is most likely going to be something like in boincstats. I believe that's pretty much how the default donate page of BOINC Server software looks like so it's more of just enabling and configuring it.

I hear the caution and understand it. However its standard these days, and frankly essential not only from your costs perspective, but as a means of people contributing something to the Project if they are non-tech or whatever.

Dont leave it too long .... people will understand
