Hmm.. ah, you seem to hitting a wrapper bug since one the logs you manage to send contains:

04:47:45 (1944): no checkpoint in 301 seconds, restarting

Basically, my "hang client" detection code is acting up. It's tuned to fast machines so it gets triggered on slower ones. I need to fix that.

Although, more interesting question is why those machines are so slow. And looks like they are not only 5870 cards that have similar problems. I'll see if I can figure something out..

yes please do, I like to tryout projects with my laptop before running on other systems, and since it only has ATI integrated graphics the tasks keep erroring out do to the constant restarting.

Thing is the Dual 5850 Box runs the Wu's fine, it's slower than the 5870's CPU & GPU wise ...

Steve, I'm hitting a similar checkpoint error, although I would not have thought my i7-930 with 12GB ram or the i7-870 with 6GB would be classed as slow (both are running dual HD5850 GPUs), and only run 7 of 8 cores on boinc CPU projects.

This is crazy... It is taking two hours to complete one WU on a single 5850 card in my i7. Your checkpoint hang detection code is broken. Is there a problem with 64bit / windows 7 vs 32bit windows etc? An i7 860 box isn't what I would call slow either.

Ah, interesting tip. The computers I have working well are 32-bit xp machines. My xp64 and Win7 machines are all screwy and on NNT since yesterday.

Edit, the XP64 machine is running ok. The Win7 ones are still flogging away on a ton of time with versions 1.01.

Same config as above, only driver 11.4 'preview'.
Not a single problem.

Hi
I can confirm that Win7 or Vista 64 with dual 6970s works fine. Average run time is 7>8 mins. CPU time is the same as run time but I am not running any CPU task at the same time.usally takes 2 cores on a 980 6 core.
Both sets of ATI 6970s run at 920-1425 by default about 65C
Cheers
