Found my answer, posting it here in case others have the same issue. When I was looking through my boinc logs I noticed my cpu was reporting it had opencl as well. I used DDU to remove the intel drivers and rebooted. Everything is working as it should now. |

Thats odd. I think it should have still worked. Seems like it might have been trying to use iGPU instead. I wonder if an exclusion of the iGPU in cc_config for this project would allow it to work with the Intel driver. Some projects do use it. |

This project should work with an Intel iGPU - the basic DNet client does so, but the performance is really really bad - almost bad enough to not bother with it. 150 MKeys/sec on 630 graphics (G4600) if you're not doing ANYTHING else on the system, commonly more like 90 if you ARE using the CPU for anything - my generations-old A10-5700 manages a bit over 400 WITH the CPU doing stuff. For reference, you have to go to the higher-end HIGH COST workstation CPUs from Intel to get a "better" iGPU than the 630 (it's the same iGPU that's on the Kaby Lake i7-7700k among other Intel offerings). |

Very strange! I have a similar problem with my R9 380 which was working absolutely fine until about a week ago. Very strange! What AMD driver are you running? When I check my own AMD drivers I see this...Radeon Software Version 17.6.2, but yours says "driver version 2348.3", that sounds like a Microsoft version number and not an AMD driver version number. Even my AMD 480 is using the Crimson Relive 17.6.2 driver version. I am running Win10 on those machines but the AMD drive numbers are similar for Win7 and 8 machines too. |

I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 (same as Windows 7). GPU is working on everything else but Moo. Was working fine on Moo until just over a week ago. I'm running 17.4.4 as it was suggested as a fix. You say you removed the Intel cpu OpenCL drivers and this made it work? I'm gonna try the latest drivers again in a seemingly futile attempt to get this working again. I'm goin' nuts!! |

I looked at your error report and it's the same as mine. Your last valid task was on 29 Jun 2017, so it has been failing for more than a week. First suggestion - when a problem arises the first thing to do is to drop your cache sizes to zero and get tasks one at a time until the problem is fixed. Next, look in the boinc data directory for a file coproc_info.xml file and see if the opencl information for your gpu is correct. Next try and remember what changes you may have made to your system on the 29th and back it out. Next, use DDU to remove video driver and re-install a clean version. |

Hi there, thanks for coming back to me. Done all the driver removals and re-installs already but no joy. Below is a copy of my GPU info from BOINC data, maybe you can see something problematic: -<ati_opencl> <name>AMD Radeon (TM) R9 380 Series</name> <vendor>Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.</vendor> <vendor_id>4098</vendor_id> <available>1</available> <half_fp_config>0</half_fp_config> <single_fp_config>190</single_fp_config> <double_fp_config>63</double_fp_config> <endian_little>1</endian_little> <execution_capabilities>1</execution_capabilities> <extensions>cl_khr_fp64 cl_amd_fp64 cl_khr_global_int32_base_atomics cl_khr_global_int32_extended_atomics cl_khr_local_int32_base_atomics cl_khr_local_int32_extended_atomics cl_khr_int64_base_atomics cl_khr_int64_extended_atomics cl_khr_3d_image_writes cl_khr_byte_addressable_store cl_khr_fp16 cl_khr_gl_sharing cl_khr_gl_depth_images cl_amd_device_attribute_query cl_amd_vec3 cl_amd_printf cl_amd_media_ops cl_amd_media_ops2 cl_amd_popcnt cl_khr_d3d10_sharing cl_khr_d3d11_sharing cl_khr_dx9_media_sharing cl_khr_image2d_from_buffer cl_khr_spir cl_khr_subgroups cl_khr_gl_event cl_khr_depth_images cl_khr_mipmap_image cl_khr_mipmap_image_writes cl_amd_liquid_flash </extensions> <global_mem_size>4294967296</global_mem_size> <local_mem_size>32768</local_mem_size> <max_clock_frequency>990</max_clock_frequency> <max_compute_units>28</max_compute_units> <nv_compute_capability_major>0</nv_compute_capability_major> <nv_compute_capability_minor>0</nv_compute_capability_minor> <amd_simd_per_compute_unit>4</amd_simd_per_compute_unit> <amd_simd_width>16</amd_simd_width> <amd_simd_instruction_width>1</amd_simd_instruction_width> <opencl_platform_version>OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (2348.4)</opencl_platform_version> <opencl_device_version>OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (2348.4)</opencl_device_version> <opencl_driver_version>2348.4</opencl_driver_version> <device_num>0</device_num> <peak_flops>3548160000000.000000</peak_flops> <opencl_available_ram>4294967296.000000</opencl_available_ram> <opencl_device_index>0</opencl_device_index> <warn_bad_cuda>0</warn_bad_cuda> </ati_opencl> Really would like to get this sorted out and get back to working on my favorite project!! |

Ok, it turns out I was reading the dates wrong and your last valid task was on Jul 6th and you were changing the "Distributed.net ATI Stream Client Core" setting in your project preferences. No problem doing this, to find out which works best for you. I use the #3 " IL 4-pipe cs-1 (req. Cypress ASIC or later)" setting. From Your last valid task: 19:17:39 (4308): wrapper v1.4 build 16 for AMD/ATI OpenCL starting (BOINC Wrapper v7.5.26011) From Mine: 17:24:34 (6188): wrapper v1.4 build 16 for AMD/ATI OpenCL starting (BOINC Wrapper v7.5.26011) Differences due to different AMD GPUs and I have upgraded to latest driver version. From one of your error tasks: 18:26:11 (3544): wrapper v1.4 build 16 for AMD/ATI OpenCL starting (BOINC Wrapper v7.5.26011) So the question becomes what has broken Opencl on this device for this project. Is this device used with any other projects to run Opencl tasks? Do the tasks run or fail? Have you tried using GPU-Z to check the status of the device? Are you overclocking or undervolting this device? Try opening a cmd window and switch to the windows\system32 directory and run Clinfo program to verify that Opencl is working. |

Boy oh boy I finally found the solution: I used regedit.exe in run and all I did was to modify: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenCL\Vendors (for 64-bit applications) and/or HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Khronos\OpenCL\Vendors (for 32-bit applications) These registry keys should contain one REG_DWORD value for each OpenCL platform. If you change the REG_DWORD value for a platform from 0 to 1 then that platform will no longer enumerate. The nice thing about this method is that if you change your mind or it causes you problems, you can re-enable the platform by simply changing the value from 1 back to 0. My Strix Radeon R9 380 is now working perfectly again on Moo! PS. I was also able to update my drivers back to the latest as I'd down graded them in search of a solution. So simply 'switching off' the Intel OpenCL drivers in the registry worked!! Thanks for your help!! |
