I know people usually are proud of, and biased towards, their local area, but Cape Town really is a beautiful place - and I mean that scenery-wise. So I'm really winning! |

Winning in a rural village about 70 miles inland from Boston, without any traffic ... Ok, you win the "It's nice to live here" competition. Traffic can be a nightmare here. Luckily (I think) my working hours are unusual so I normally travel outside of the peak traffic. Ah, the life of a TV freelancer... |

Winning in a rural village about 70 miles inland from Boston, without any traffic ... BOSTON, you live in England, Boston is in Massachusetts USA! Odd-Rod I used to LOVE working shift work, I was only in traffic once every two days as my shift was 24 hours long. WINNING!!! |

Now I´m in disguise. I´ve created a new user because I have joined a new team here in sweden. They are called Team.se. So they will gain some of my points with MOO. But I will compete with myself on the behalf of Boinc@valdemarsvik and see if these guys can beat me. I have started a new rig running MOO with a GEFORCE GPU. I don´t know yet if it is a good one. Time will tell. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (1023MB) driver: 306.97 is the GPU. Any Comments? WINNING! Bernt |

Now I´m in disguise. Hey that's cool! YES it IS a good one!! I have two of those and they can make for some VERY good credits!! They will also work on ANY project including MilkyWay if you chose. I have mine on DistRTgen right now and each is getting in the 360K per day range and they have not stopped increasing their rac yet. Although the curve is just starting to not go up as much as it was, it is bending just a little bit. I did upgrade mine to the 314.7 drivers and have not seen any problems yet. The machines they are in ONLY crunch though, so it is a limited exposure for me. I upgraded because I use the cpu's at Rosetta and using those drivers, along with Boinc 7.0.52, makes it work for me there. WINNING!!! |

Now I´m in disguise. I fixed it my self. My old steady rig refused to cooperate the other day. Suddenly the OS decided to boot from a USBdisk that contains no OS. Rather frustrating. Remembered that you helped me off at an earlier state with this kind of problem. The new rig is up and running with a ok result. Not as much credit as my HD6850 but anyhow it is OK. I might change to an other GPU later on. Any advice? Now I am sure that I will win after this cumbersome event that took place the other day. Bernt |

Now I´m in disguise. I see you are back to just Bernt again, but anyway the AMD cards are faster here but the Nvidia ones do work. I too found the 68?? series cards not worth the money I spent on them!! I replaced a couple of 5770 cards with a 6850 and a 6870 and they were NOT that much better!! BUT Moo does NOT currently support the newest 7970 cards, so going too high is not good either! I saw a 7770 card at the computer store the other day for 100 dollars, it CAN crunch for MilkyWay later on and should be better then the 6850 you have, BUT the 6850 has 960 stream processors while the 7770 only has 640! Here is a little chart I keep: ATI 4650 AGP-no 320 ATI 4670-no 320 ATI 5550-no 320 AMD 5770-no 800 AMD 5870-yes 1600 AMD 6770-no 800 AMD 6850-no 960 AMD 6870-no 1120 AMD 6950-yes 1408 AMD 6970-yes 1536 AMD 7750-yes 512 AMD 7770-yes 640 AMD 7850-no 1024 AMD 7870-no 1280 AMD 7950-yes 1792 AMD 7970-yes 2048 Nvidia 8600 GT 128 Nvidia 9800 GT/512meg 112 Nvidia 9600 GSO/ 512meg 64 Nvidia GTX 560Ti-yes 384 Nvidia 650Ti-yes 768 No means will not work on MilkWay, while yes means yes it will work. The MORE stream processors the better the gpu, BUT that you CANNOT compare AMD to Nvidia the same way. Nvidia does things differently, so while you CAN compare within Nvidia you CANNOT compare AMD to Nvidia thru stream processors. I personally like the AMD 5870's and the Nvidia 560Ti's as they will BOTH work on MW, AND do very well here at Moo. I keep saying MW as it is the one project that has the most stringent rules for what works and what doesn't. On SOME projects the newer 6 series of Nvidia cards are actually slower then the older series 5 cards, Nvidia played with the settings and cut down exactly what we crunchers NEED in half! This does not affect gamers but it does affect us crunchers. |

Winning as I wait for my RAC to rise from the new AMD graphics card ... an HD9970. Boy, is it quick, and it does a Moo! unit in 45 seconds .... |

Mikey, To rephrase my question, What shall I go for if I choose to work only with MOO for the rig with the Nvidia card? By the way, Bernt is the user I normally use supporting Team.se. They need some power to beat #1 in Sweden. Bernt J is the new user I created for the new rig and to support team Boinc@Valdemarsvik. WINNING! |

Mikey, I checked the Top Participants and as expected MOST are using AMD cards, BUT the top Nvidia card is a 650 Ti and is doing units in 1,739.19 gpu seconds, 9.92 cpu seconds, and getting 6,584.00 credits. I think your 560 Ti would only be just a little slower. |

Just a thread at midnight YES I AM, it is currently getting 520K+ credits per day and still rising!! It has even surpassed my dual gpu machine! It is NOT here though, the project hasn't made the 79?? series gpu's work here yet. WINNING!!! |

Mikey's RAC rises due to his new HD7970 But, all the gains are at Donate and not here at Moo! Congrats on the new card Mikey. Let us know how it finishes out, as is interested ... |
