For the most part, I dont have any problems, but on one of my i7-920's I get "regular" WU's that take hours.."mpostly" around 4-5 hours, but have had some go for as long as 12 - 13 hrs, (normally I just abort any that I catch taking so long).

the last one reported today was 47,000 odd seconds..so it appears about two pages back on this machine http://moowrap.net/results.php?hostid=3824&offset=40&show_names=1&state=3&appid=, and from there "back" in the "valid WU" pages, there is about one long one per page.

anyone else having these happening?

just noticed that I have got three different driver versions for the three machines which have ATI cards (this machine does have the newer of them all), I suppose I should check with that first ??

Will download it and see, but any advice in the meantime would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Veebee

Reportedly, I have NO first hand info, the NEWEST of the new Beta drivers are giving a 20% speed increase for crunching! But your i7 pc with the AMD drivers is using an older one than the i7 with the Bvidia card in it. Also both of the units you had problems with others had problems as well. It COULD just be a few bad units and you are noticing them while others aren't. Are you crunching using the Nvidia card too? They are known slower crunches at Moo but that might be pretty slow!

Looking at the tasks for the linked host, it seems there's quite variance on the crunching speed.
Normally your completion time ranges from 30mins to 1h and sometimes even longer. The output for these seems to indicate that the actual crunch speed (Mkeys/sec) is slower so your card is not running efficiently. This can be card problem like overheating, driver bugginess or something else hogging either the CPU (which is needed to talk to GPU) or GPU card itself.

There's also some that ridiculously long (9000 sec) and they indicate various BOINC Client gone and crashing/shutdown system issues. Sometimes the card is also super-slow so it can be a symptom of the same issue as for the normal variance.

There's few things you can try, namely making sure 1 CPU core is free (not used for other crunching) or play with D.net Client core selection (can be set in http://moowrap.net/prefs.php?subset=project). The latter is especially true for these new ATI 6xxx that the D.Net client doesn't detect and might not know what core is optimal for them.

I noticed one of those, I restarted the machine and all was okay again.

think i found the problem.was running constellation, for what ever reason it was using some java script, which was causing the cpu to go haywire.cancelled all wu on it and the cpu straightened out as well as the gpu started behaving.needless to say, wont be running that program anymore.
