When OpenCL is implemented in the client, and my pocket book allows, then an OS upgrade from 32bit XP Pro to 64bit Win 7 and an HD7950 will be considered.

Okay,

I heard some good news about this a while ago. Upstream developers at the D.net project are hard at work getting OpenCL cores going, which should fix problems 7000-series cards are having due to the AMD dropping support for Stream. I don't have any definitive time table to give when new clients are ready. But until we release new applications with the newer client any new OpenCL-only cards will unfortunately not work here. Sorry. :(

-w

Okay, I guess that why I'm getting comp. errors with my 7870!

Message 4047 - Posted: 25 Oct 2012, 12:23:04 UTC - in response to Message 4045.

I just moved my 6950 card to an older machine and put a new 7950 in the prime computer and discovered this projects WUs now all die on the 7950 card. So its effecting the 7950 as well as the others mentioned before. My 6950 is still my main Moo project credit earner. What a pity? It works AOK almost everywhere else except one or two I don't get WUs very often on.

It's always frustrating to go out and pay hundreds of dollars for new hardware, to improve the amount of work to be done, only to discover NO work can now be done with the newer card. Hope this problem gets fixed soon. I guess I'll have to drop Moo for now. At least there are plenty of others to migrate to to test the 7950 on: Collatz or Milkyway or DistRTGen or PrimeGrid or Poem or Einstein or World Community Grid to name a few that also support AMD GPU WUs.
So anyone thinking about upgrading to any of the 7900 series (and possibly 7800) series of cards for Moo, you might want to think twice before doing so.

If you pick one that has some good support from its users you should be able to get a good app_info.xml file and run multiple units at the same time. WCG would NOT be one of those as it JUST started using the gpu for crunching and I have not seen an app_info yet. The 79?? cards WILL run at WCG, but you are most likely on your own for running multiple units at once though.

I guess I spoke too soon. Since installing the 7950 in the new machine, I moved the old 6970 to a secondary machine. Now not getting any work for my 6970 either at Moo. Looks like server stats says WUs are available. So I'm now completely locked out of getting AMD work period from Moo. But since the server stats doesn't show NVIDIA and AMDs available as two separate numbers, it's hard to tell if they just don't have any AMD WUs now. The only other thing I can think of is that the 6970 was updated to AMDs latest driver (1.4.1741) which is the same driver the 7950 uses. Could it be the driver that dropped the 6970 support for Moo?

I guess I will just leave my 7970 set to get only CPU units so it doesn't download and error out the AMD WUs. Then I'll just leave my 6970 waiting to get AMD WUs till this problem is solved. So far Moo!Wrapper is the only AMD GPU project I've run into this with the AMD. All the other AMD GPU projects I've run seem to be OK (except for a couple that actually have no work).

I had this problem on ONE pc and fixed it by running this app_info.xml file:

<app_info>

<name>dnetc</name>
<user_friendly_name>Distributed.net Client</user_friendly_name>

I have TWO AMD 5770's in this pc and it runs TWO units at once, each taking just under an hour. All my other pc's got work just fine, I have NO IDEA why it worked but it did.

Hey admins. Can we have gpu beta app for 7xxx series ATI cards? There are working beta version out.

Sure, OpenCL beta client is out from upstream that at least runs on 7xxx cards. I just need to find some time to prepare a beta apps for it, which has been problematic ever since I started my full time job. Now that the holiday season has started I'd hope to be able to find that time.

And my top priority is to first deploy the OpenCL app for 7xxx users and then to fix the multiple GPU problems.

I got this to work, but a bit wrong. This machine has an ATI and Nvidia graphics cards. The program runs now Nvidia card, not the ATI card at all. I do not know what I've done wrong.
