The D.Net Client we use doesn't have a parameter to limit CPU percentage usage (only number of CPUs and scheduling priority). At last ... a revelation (sigh) after almost 2 months. To prove how bad this situation is I just limited a single-core HT CPU to 50% "of the processors" and to 1% "Use at most ... of CPU time". Result - 46% CPU usage (by Moo/DNET). See latest snapshot JPEG for proof http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h216/Ray_GTI-R/BOINC%20issues/Moo/Image4.jpg Ray (PS additional anecdotal proof:-? During this 50% at 1% CPU limit I set ... just typing this text is a nightmare.) |

Still linked to the thread but now some thing new. I have local preferences set to keep computing while laptop is on batteries. Why? My wish. Any way Moo is stubborn. On batteries it just won't crunch. At first i thought it was the version of Boinc with all attendent problems but no, the fault lies with MooWrap all the other projects run on batteries. Regards. |

Still no fix. I'm getting 100% usage that I positively DO NOT WANT. See the latest proof ... http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h216/Ray_GTI-R/BOINC%20issues/Moo/Image5.jpg Help, please! Ray PS:- Blame not required, what is needed is that this problem running Moo is fixed. Previous reply results in zero help as http://moowrap.net/result.php?resultid=6273835 & 6190048 both give the same error:- Unable to handle request No such task so unable to investigate the previous reply. |

This might explain my computer crashing lately with other CPU work. Thought it was the nVidia drivers, but after uninstalling them, I still get "hickups" and have to reinstall BOINC and wipe all WU's completely. "0.05 CPUS + 1 ATI GPU" is what I show on BOINC, but it seems it's taking more than that and cuts into the other BOINC CPU workload, causing a crash. |

This graphic says it all - even under the latest BOINC version 7 ... http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h216/Ray_GTI-R/BOINC%20issues/Moo/Image6.jpg FWIW Am now struggling to remove BOINC 7 and revert to the previous BOINC 6 point whatever. A simple reinstall of the prior BOINC version gives different GPU errors on different PCs (OpenCL & non-OpenCL cards). I'm about to agitate on BOINC that BOINC 7 kills all processing on AGP cards. |

This graphic says it all - even under the latest BOINC version 7 ... FYI Boinc version 7.0.25 is now the 'released' version of Boinc, so it is now Official and Approved. And yes trying to go back to version 6 can be a REAL pain!! You will have to do a registry search for all things Boinc and remove it, if you don't know what the registry is BE CAREFUL and DON'T do it!!! It can make your pc unusable if it gets messed up!!! The free program ccleaner can help but again BE CAREFUL as it selects EVERYTHING by default, which can be VERY bad too! This is one of those cases where the fix can be worse than the disease!!! |
