Hi, Thought I'd better put some extra info on the settings of the 5970 as its not at default I have upped the voltage to 1.1 volts to be stable for my 860 meg core clock speed ( can run 900 but with very little performance gain and extra thermal gain due to extra voltage just not worth it ) memory clock is set to 500 which i find runs everything with no problems no matter the project the thermals and currant draws at these settings for one 5970 card are the gpu temps around 84 degrees constant and the VRMS 98 degrees and the currant draw is 56 amps hope those stats help Zydor best regards Ian ----> Please Join team Scotland HERE |

If its of any help to anyone .... HD5850 Cat 11.10 Win7 64 Clock 775Mhz Memory 500Mhz GPU Load 97% GPU temp 67C Fan 47% VDDC 1.0875V Current 54A The general comment is that the card runs a lot hotter on Moo! than it did on DNETC or does on Milkyway and Collatz. Moo! workunits obviously load the GPU a lot more. |

Thanks Ian/Chris .... useful to check I wasnt going crazy. On 11.9 I am in the same ballpark - figures below. The difference on 11.12 was astonishing ... could be fingers and thumbs on my part, but it was wacky enough to pursuade me to stay of 11.11 and 11.12. It would seem some guys obver at MW and Collatz have had issues out of the usual band, with those two as well. Dont have a Moo figure yet as the rebuilt boxes have only played at PrimeGrid so far (as such) - there I am on ( for PPS(Sieve) ): 840/175 1.0875v GPU: 83 degrees VRM: 112 Current: 47.9amps Regards Zy |

All ATI drivers 11.5 up hogs the CPU & use a full CPU core to feed the GPU I'm running a 5850 & a 6950 both OCd to 860 but the Mem clock dropped to 650 with driver 11.4. The CPU usage is down to 1% If I use any driver from 11.6 & up the CPU usage jumps to 24% on a quad This is nearly a full CPU core of the quad I get very few failures just a lot of inconsistent run-times with the latest batch of WUs Even that it is mid summer here with very little aircon & the heavy OC the GPU temps are below 78c deg I told Teemu about this because DNETC was running fine with 11.5 up He replied that he dont understand this cause Moo & DNETC was on the same software supplied by Dist Net It seems that there is somewhere a big communication gap |

I'm using v11.6 on 3 different Box's with a 5850-5870 & a 6990, all 3 Box's only use 0.05 of a CPU Core & I'm running 4 CPU Wu's on all 3 Quads ... |

Same here ... am running v11.6 on a 5850 over/underclocked to 775/200 with CPU usage less than 1%. I've tried v11.7 to v11.9 but all 3 versions consume a full CPU core. Rumours say that v12.1 will cure the CPU usage problem but it's not released yet. |

I told Teemu about this because DNETC was running fine with 11.5 up Only thing that could come to mind was that we are using build 518 of the D.Net client and they could have used buidl 517 or some other older version. Too bad we can't check anymore.. But we could test with older build to see if it fixes any of the odd bugs some are having. Hmm, another five days gone since NeoMetal (and probably others) complained about the situation (which I agree). Where does all my days go. :( Since I can't affect the work I get from upstream, I'll need to find other ways to compensate on this fragmentation and high packet counts. Only thing that's viable is using the credit levels even though that won't fix any of the bad effects on some of the systems (like the churning on multi-cards setups). :( -w |
