Friends, Mostly I´m crunching Moo. From time to time I also process some WU´s for Einstein and SETI. With Einstein I need to use EFMER throttle not to have a close down. This is rather annoying. I use only two threads of my eight possible. I think I need to look into my cabinet to take away dust from the CPU. I use Core temp to supervise, but without Throttle the rig is closing down. Do you have any ideas if I am right about this or not. Bernt |

Friends, Dust would be the 1st place to look but it could also be your cpu thermal grease has dried up too. I have my pc's on a set of shelves and just leave the sides off most of them making them both easier to work on and run cooler too. I do not have any store bought pc's running right now, I do have some Dell, HP/Compaq, etc cases that have been reused and faster parts put in them though. Mostly I use generic cases though. One other thing to check is the case fans, they can get gummed up and stop spinning too. A little CRC will free them up for a bit. If you have not heard of CRC it is a spray that comes in a can that you can buy for electric and electronic stuff that penetrates and evaporates leaving a lubed clean surface when dry. Do NOT use WD-40 as it can conduct electricity where as CRC does not! |
