How to compel CUDA application ?
(Message 8210)
Posted 4 May 2020 by Dirk Broer Post: I see you have both a Intel UHD 620 GPU and a NVIDIA GeForce MX150, does BOINC see both? The following assumes your BOINC data directory is C:\ProgramData\BOINC. Step by step: 1. Start up Notepad 2. Paste the following code into your cc_config.xml file, located in C:\ProgramData\BOINC. If it doesn't exist, make one using notepad, save as .txt and alter the suffix to .xml (ignore the warnings). <cc_config> <options> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> 3. Save it into C:\ProgramData\BOINC as cc_config.xml (careful, Notepad likes to put .txt on the end of the filename) 4. Shut down your BOINC client if its running 5. Start BOINC up again You should have a couple of messages in the startup about config: and it should use both GPUs Are you using the standard driver, or the one downloaded from nVidia? For full CUDA performance use the last nVidia-supplied driver for your card. |

OpenCL Apps
(Message 8204)
Posted 3 Mar 2020 by Dirk Broer Post: Can we get more OpenCL apps? Currently there are only apps for nVidia and Ati/AMD, and no apps for Intel GPUs or the various GPU running on ARM systems (Andreno, Mali, Vivante) I am crunching Seti@Home Beta on the Intel UHD 605 IGP of my Pentium J5005, so it should be possible to have a x86-64 OpenCL Intel GPU app. People with OpenCL capable ARM GPUs see things like this in the BOINC log: Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Starting BOINC client version 7.4.53 for aarch64-android-linux-gnu Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Libraries: libcurl/7.48.0 OpenSSL/1.0.2g zlib/1.2.8 Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Running as a daemon Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Data directory: /data/data/edu.berkeley.boinc/client Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||OpenCL: Mali-T860 0: Mali-T860 (driver version 1.2, device version OpenCL 1.2 v1.r12p0-04rel0.44f2946824bb8739781564bffe2110c9, 3804MB, 3804MB available, 0 GFLOPS peak) Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Host name: android_4cc605bf Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Processor: 8 AArch64 Processor rev 2 (aarch64) Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Using 4 CPUs Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Processor features: fp asimd evtstrm aes pmull sha1 sha2 crc32 Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||OS: Android: 3.18.35 Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Memory: 3.72 GB physical, 1.86 GB virtual Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Disk: 52.62 GB total, 48.35 GB free Tue May 15 15:19:00 GMT+03:00 2018||Local time is UTC +3 hours |

How to compel CUDA application ?
(Message 8203)
Posted 3 Mar 2020 by Dirk Broer Post: "opencl_nvidia_101" WU's do not use my nvidia unit. How can I insist on CUDA WU's ? What nvidia unit do you have? Does BOINC 'see' the nvidia unit upon boot (see BOINC-log)? |

First I got the message 'Tasks for CPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them' I then checked my settings, enabling 'Use CPU' and 'accept test applications'. The downloaded WUs are 1.05 GPU WUs, starting as soon as Einstein end Enigma are finished |

Mint Linux & AMD Radio HD5850 GPU
(Message 8012)
Posted 14 Jul 2018 by Dirk Broer Post: Which version of Linux Mint are you running? Keep in mind that all major Linux distros have depreciated the AMD-proprietary FGLRX-driver in their most recent versions and now use the OpenSource driver -if all goes well. There are two possible OpenSource drivers to load for AMD cards: RADEON and AMDGPU -but my latest update for Linux Mint 18.3 broke support for both and the default VESA driver can't be used in BOINC. The latest Linux Mint is by now Linux Mint 19 Tara, where support for 'older' AMD video chips seems to be even worse than in previous versions (17.3 ran pretty well with me). Your HD5850 can't use the AMDGPU-PRO driver that runs the latest and greatest AMD cards -not a single Radeon HD card is able to do that. |

Raspberry Pi Support
(Message 7597)
Posted 21 Feb 2017 by Dirk Broer Post: Any possibility for support for Raspberry Pi in the future? Of course it won't run the Linux/x86 code, it has an ARM architecture. You would need to re-compile the code in order to be able to run it in the first place, and the GPU of the Pi is useless as it does not support OpenCL. But when an Android client has proven possible, that code could be ported to Linux/ARM as well. |

(Message 7007)
Posted 2 Mar 2016 by Dirk Broer Post: I like the RAC badge idea, but could we have a credit badge, please - so maybe 10k, 100k, 250k, 1m, 10m, 50m, 100m, etc...? I would love that, and it would make me (and probably others) inclined to crunch more for this project, so I could get more badges... Me2 |
