1) Message boards : Number crunching : 7970s Dont Run (Message 3433)

Hi,

Unfortunately, the D.Net devs are still having problems getting the new series cards to run properly. It was running for a while but then the driver got updated and things broke again. :(

One problem might be that there's not that many ATI hackers amongst them. Last I heard there was one dev planning on working on the problem, but no other news from him yet.

Is there lot of you that have upgraded their cards are now unable to participate here (but you would want to)?

my new PC came with a 7950
2) Message boards : Number crunching : AMD 11.6 seems to be Ok on 5XXX (Message 709)

No real reason in terms of the 11.X driver sets, cant compare the 10.X ones. There has been a lot of activity for 6XXX in the change from 11.5 to 11.6, no idea if its significant in BOINC terms for 6XXX.

Otherwise an unremarkable upgrade from a BOINC perspective, its well into the "if it aint broke dont fix it" category :)

EDIT: One caviat ..... there is a question mark for 4XXX users. Its looking like the OpenCL driver set (2.4) downloaded with 11.6 will prevent 4XXX users running any AMD OpenCL 2.4 apps. Still trying to get 100% fact, but previous rumblings from AMD indicated this would happen, and already some PG 4XXX users switching to 11.6 fell over on the PPS Sieve app, so its looking likely. Still has "rumour" status until confirmed, but if anyone is a 4XXX user, be wary until that aspect is verified or not.

Zy

11.6 is running moo! fine on my hd 4850. amazon has a daily deal for me, a xfx hd6950 for under $200 I may just break down and order it.

dnetc has been one of the flakier projects in recent memory, but yeah that's, to put it politely, a mess...

what's up with andrOINC? was dnetc trying to change their name and crashed their entire system? Or add a 2nd project but copied over their dnetc databases? The info is showing up double on my account pages but under both names:
