Back to the same problems again .. Constant crashes!!

I have no problems on any other project with this card. Gone back to the original driver and still crashes so suspended and sent any excess WUs back.

It seems that the upgrade/update has taken Moo out of the Gridcoin whitelist as the client can no longer access and acquire stats.

Maybe you could direct the Gridcoin dev team as to where they can acquire stats?

I used to run the 15.12 drivers but with this instability I updated to the latest driver from AMD directly. I'm also not overclocking at all.

This made it possible to use Wattman to 'boost' the power and make it stable. As far as I'm concerned that's the only benefit.

Well what do you know ..

Although I had changed nothing and the crashes came out of the blue when I increased the power using Wattman the crashes seem to have stopped.

Touch wood this is the solution but certainly strange that it should suddenly require more oomph ..

Ok, tried the newest drivers and Moo still crashes my card and hence my machine.

I can't think of anything else to do. Anyone help?

I've tried the driver before the one I was using and no go either.

I'm gonna try the latest, I found that the card didn't seem to like the new drivers when I got it so I left them alone.

Have you a similar card and have you had similar probs that have been resolved by using the latest?

I'm suddenly having problems running wus on an AMD R9 380. The wu starts running and suddenly Moo crashes the card.

I've checked the card and it runs fine on all other projects. Even reloaded the driver as I initially thought that maybe there had been an update I hadn't noticed (always use driver version 15.200.1046.0 WHQL) or maybe the driver had become corrupt.
Reset the project as well but no go. So I removed Moo from the BOINC Manager and restarted, then added it again and restarted. Still the same!!

Have there been any changes that weren't announced?

I run an AMD HD 7950 on Moo on another machine and there are no problems there.

Anyone have any advice for me?

Boy oh boy I finally found the solution:


I used regedit.exe in run and all I did was to modify:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenCL\Vendors (for 64-bit applications)

and/or

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Khronos\OpenCL\Vendors (for 32-bit applications)

These registry keys should contain one REG_DWORD value for each OpenCL platform. If you change the REG_DWORD value for a platform from 0 to 1 then that platform will no longer enumerate.

The nice thing about this method is that if you change your mind or it causes you problems, you can re-enable the platform by simply changing the value from 1 back to 0.

My Strix Radeon R9 380 is now working perfectly again on Moo!

PS. I was also able to update my drivers back to the latest as I'd down graded them in search of a solution.

So simply 'switching off' the Intel OpenCL drivers in the registry worked!!

I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 (same as Windows 7). GPU is working on everything else but Moo. Was working fine on Moo until just over a week ago.

I'm running 17.4.4 as it was suggested as a fix.

You say you removed the Intel cpu OpenCL drivers and this made it work?

I'm gonna try the latest drivers again in a seemingly futile attempt to get this working again. I'm goin' nuts!!

Yeah, the driver version does look strange as listed on the wu.

However the driver version I'm using on Windows 7 is 15.200.1046.0 (Crimson 17.6.2)as shown on GPU-Z.

This is on an AMD R9 380 which is not overclocked at all and has previously never had a problem with work units.

Cannot understand what's happening?

Any one else having this problem?

So the site and servers have been offline for quite a time.

I do understand that server maintenance is a necessity and we all need to maintain our equipment from time to time.

Perhaps the administrators could see it from the users side and advise us what is happening.

A short notice would be appropriate on the forum and if there is a sudden 'breakdown' and the site goes down as well, perhaps a notice on the main BOINC forum or BOINC Stats forum would be a good idea.
