mcafee epo cloud detects the new app as Artemis!A8478C1EA9FD.

Which one? The wrapper app or the D.net Client? And this is the OpenCL app?

Looks like "Artemis" is codename for their heuristic detection, which usually have problems with new D.net Clients until they realize they are fine (so called false positives). More information about Artemis can be found in https://service.mcafee.com/webcenter/portal/cp/home/articleview?articleId=TS100414.

Ah, thanks for letting me know. I can see what's wrong in the Apache config. I'll fix it.

Hi,

Apologies for the stats problems. Looks like this was related to the server migration where stats export was using new slave DB server that kept failing due to disk space issues. Hopefully I've gotten on top of that problem now.

24) Message boards : News : Releasing new version 1.5 apps (Message 8035)
Posted 7 Nov 2018 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
FINALLY new app version 1.5 app is released for first platforms (Windows CPU and OpenCL). Biggest improvements are newer D.net Client and BOINC upstream changed to wrapper which both bring fixes and some new features. More information can be found in the changelog post at https://moowrap.net/forum_thread.php?id=206&postid=2265#2265.

As always, please report any problems getting work or having work fail more often in the relevant forum here. Note that there can be some confusion in the BOINC Scheduler as it tries to recalculate stats for best performing app variant for you (like OpenCL vs. native GPU apps).

PS. BOINC Server has also gotten some updates from BOINC developers so there's been lots of churn lately. The server migration is also progressing.

We are in the middle of migrating our servers to a different hosting provider and this can cause sudden maintenance mode or even unexpected problems. Migration will probably still take up to a month. First problem seems to be that everything is slower as the database server has moved but the application server has not. Everything should still work as long as there's no time out.

It may have something to do with the message "[May 02 03:32:57 UTC] Automatic processor type detection did not recognize the processor (tag: "Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 ")" in the stderr file.

Right, you seem to have internal Intel GPU as well and Dnet OpenCL app detects that and tries to use but fails to. There's two problems here, first that the Intel GPU fails to run the app and second that it gets detected by the Dnet app so the GPU numbering is out of sync with BOINC Client.

BOINC Schduler should have given up after 10 failures on the OpenCL app but doesn't seem to be doing that. I'll try to figure out if this can be fixed (you should only be getting the cuda31 app until problems with Intel GPUs can be fixed).

27) Message boards : News : BOINC Scheduler changes for multiple app version case (Message 7981)
Posted 2 May 2018 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
BOINC Scheduler has had problems sending different app versions to clients when there's multiple possible versions for a platform. For example, this happens when there's both OpenCL and Stream/CUDA or both 32-bit and 64-bit CPU app version available. To hopefully fix this our scheduler has been changed to send each app version until it has enough host specific speed samples. Only exception is when that version has been failing.

Please report any problems of getting work or having them fail more often in our forums. Thank you and happy crunching!
28) Questions and Answers : Windows : Hello Admin, can you update the app already? (Message 7980)

I'm pretty sure that the site admin IS the project admin for this particular project.

Right, there's only one admin that manages Moo! Wrapper Project at the moment and that's me. :) And for various reasons I haven't been so attentive as I should have been.

But I am working at the moment on getting app and Dnet Client updates out as well as hoping to tweak the BOINC Scheduler to hopefully send duplicate apps more evenly to users. It will take a while and there could be some issues along the way.

29) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Fake DB entries (Message 7749)
Posted 13 Oct 2017 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
I'm new here, but couldn't help to notice there're many fake groups on the DB.

I also wonder what these "fake groups" are. If you mean teams or profiles, then there are known problems with spamming that affects most BOINC project websites. I've run cleanup scripts during last update few days ago so there should be much less of those. Additionally new BOINC code has some extra protections against spammers, which are now enabled so hopefully it's harder for spammers to create fake accounts.

In any case, if you spot any teams/profiles/anything that seems to have been created only for spamming purposes then please report them so I can deal with them. There are either specific report button or you can point me to them via a forum message or PM. Thank you!

30) Message boards : News : BOINC Server updated (Message 7748)
Posted 13 Oct 2017 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
It seems that the upgrade/update has taken Moo out of the Gridcoin whitelist as the client can no longer access and acquire stats.
Maybe you could direct the Gridcoin dev team as to where they can acquire stats?

What do they use to obtain stats? Is it the same stats system BOINC Stats uses to get stats from us (which are XML file dumps calculated from our DB every 2 hour) or do they require something else too? Stats system should be working (according to timestamps the dump has been generated 2h ago and is about to be done again) still but I'll verify that it works for others (BOINC Stats website seems to be down at the moment so I can't check if they have any problems). It's possible they use server status XML output as well but that shouldn't have changed even if the HTML output has.

Looks like their stats page is "replaying blockchain" which must be something they are using internally to gather the stats. It's falling behind so it could be an internal processing power problem.

In any case, if they have problems with accessing something on our website, please ask them to contact me (a PM or on forum is fine) with details and I can verify if our end is fine. Thanks for bringing this matter to my attention.

32) Message boards : News : BOINC Server updated (Message 7740)
Posted 7 Oct 2017 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
BOINC Server used by the project has been updated to the latest available from upstream that includes various fixes, improvements and changes. Most visible change is the partial migration to Bootstrap web framework and refreshed theme. This should make our web site behave much better on mobile browsers but there are some pages that still could be improved.

As this is a big change, please report on our forums any problems or strange behaviour in both servers and website. Thank you and happy crunching!
33) Message boards : News : Disk failure on the main project server (Message 7638)
Posted 3 May 2017 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
Main project server failed about 36h ago due to I/O errors because of bad sectors on it's hard disk. I've migrated the data to the secondary disk and the project services are now recovering. There might be few tasks affected (will be shown as download errors) as some generated data files were not recoverable.

Only if there will be a Dnet Client available for it as I don't think it can run apps as is from other Linux distributions.

Year 2017 is upon us and it has been insanely long time since my last activity on these message boards. So I wanted to let everyone know that I am still around, just hiding in the shadows due to various reasons. My main priority regarding Moo! Wrapper project has been to keep it up and running at the current level. I am very aware that there are various issues and improvements pending that should be addressed and I'm sorry about lack of progress on them. Hopefully I will manage to get these done eventually.
36) Questions and Answers : Getting started : GPU requirements for Moo (Message 7560)
Posted 5 Jan 2017 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
I looked on the website and couldn't find specific information stating GPU requirements. I ask because my GPU (GTS 250) is old and I don't know if it is still supported in this GPU project.

All the requirements that are known are listed in the https://moowrap.net/forum_thread.php?id=41#329 post. However, best way to test is to try running few work units and see what happens. Quickly looking that GPU should work, as long BOINC Client detects it. Might be a bit slow to crunch but I'm sure you know that about old GPUs. :)

37) Message boards : Number crunching : Distributed.net login info through MooWrap? (Message 7559)
Posted 5 Jan 2017 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
When I look at the distributed.net status pages, I see "Admpicard999@moowrap.net" as the email/username listed for me.

Yeah, that's the default we use to prevent the BOINC Email address getting revealed. You can set the email used in Dnet Client in project preferences if you wish to use some other email.

1. Does it really matter that I can't get to the password protected portion of the stats page on distributed.net?

Depends, you need access if you want to change the settings in Dnet Statistics for that account. One such thing is the team to which the account contributes to (in the Dnet Statistics).

2. Is there any way to get/reset the password while retaining the "username@moowrap.net" format?

If you want that password, you can request it on their site and then notify me via private message here and I can forward the password email to you. This is manual process until we can implement some kind of special automation for this between dnet and moowrap.

38) Message boards : Number crunching : Wrong email address in stderr (Message 7558)
Posted 5 Jan 2017 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
I had another look today and it is still the old email address which I do not have access to in the stderr. So you are passing an invalid email address over to distributed.net.

The email address used in the Dnet Client is set in project preferences. It originally defaults to a special moowrap address. Any custom email set in the preferences won't be changed if you change the BOINC email.

Please, go to the https://moowrap.net/prefs.php?subset=project to change the project preferences and the email should be fixed.

I assume that this was not thought of or is it that you do not want to create a new account and then join them together ??

Both addresses will exist in Dnet Statistics server and joining will need to be done there. There's a retire function available when you login with the old email address and go to edit your information.

39) Questions and Answers : Windows : Switching CUDA and OpenCL (Message 6945)
Posted 16 Jan 2016 by Profile Teemu Mannermaa
Post:
BOINC downloaded CUDA3.1 and I want to switch to OpenCL but can't find suitable option.

There's currently no way to force CUDA vs. OpenCL but BOINC is supposed to send you both units and start preferring the one that's faster. Have you gotten any OpenCL units yet or are you still only getting CUDA ones?

Due to the primary disk finally failing completely there was about 8h of downtime for the project today. For some reason the disk failure brouht the server down even though we are running from the backup disk since July.

The failed disk has been replaced now and the project is slowly catching up with work distribution. Apologies for the outage!
