aparently my hosts which are capable to crunch DNETC, MW, Collataz, PG are not able to crunch MooWrapper

host config:

CPU: Intel Core i7 950 @ 3,06 Ghz
GPU: Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD5870 UD

Win7 x64 , ATI Drivers 11.6

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.83GHz
GPU: 2xGigabyte ATI Radeon HD5870 (Crossfire)

Win7 x64 , ATI Drivers 11.4

PÅ‚yta: ASUS P6T SE
CPU: Intel Core i7-930 2.8GHz
GPU: Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD5870 UD + Asus ATI Radeon HD5870

Win7 x64 , ATI Drivers 11.4

yesterday i was able to crunch only 4 WU at host with Q9550
the next WU's feeze the progres bar and the remaining time was counting to infinite...

On other boxes the same situation was from the begining.
There was no sense to keep it working with no positive output.

What could be the problem ?

Or maybe the problem is with the WU checkpointing and progress bar ?

WAAAY too many projects competing for processing time! The middle set of numbers is your current RAC for each project listed, there are a bunch more that you do not currently have any RAC for. The ones that you are actually crunching for don't count against you, but all the others do, on a pc by pc basis. That is the main reason most of us that have several pc's, have as many pc's as we do, so we too can crunch for lots of projects. I personally try to keep just one gpu and one cpu project per machine. Lately some of my cpu projects have been running out of the tasks I want to crunch so I have spread out a little.

no it's not the case.
I stop all GPU activity (detach from projects) and cruch only 1CPU project

My money is on those ATI Drivers. 11.2 & 11.4 were both disasters waiting to happen, and did not go down in history as ATI's finest :)

One thing to bare in mind with Applications, its not only the Driver Set, but what the Application does with it. For example Moo, Collatz & MilkyWay are CAL applications, Prime Grid PPS Sieve is a OpenCL application. Therefore not only will different application languages produce different results with the same driver set, but the applications also use different parts of the graphics driver itself let alone the language used - end result same card running on one application but not another.

Change the Driver Set to 11.6 (load up the Download Option at the top of the list for your card and operating system from AMD. Then go to Control Panel, delete the AMD Graphics Drivers from Control Panel, then load the 11.6 driver set. If that fails, post again as there are things that can be done, but I reckon a straightforward driver update should nail it.

I'll try but... on 1 box i have 11.6 with 1GPU and the problem exists.
So maybe it;s not a driver itself

what about ATI Stream SDK ? OpenCL?
what version? (download link) :)

Its called APP now, not Stream, and the OpenCL is loaded with the driver (providing you chose the top of page download option that gives you everything). Dont download it separately, take it as part of the driver set download.

What BOINC version are you running? Its hard to trouble shoot fully when your Computers are Hidden. By unhiding we get access to the error files of the failed WUs, and will help enormously in finding root causes.

Whatever which way, certainly get out of 11.4, its a nightmare. and check the existing 11.6 installation is not corrupted. Come back with BOINC Version and unhidden Computers and we can take a deeper look.

If you get infinte hangs - make sure you run the WUs withouit o/c for now - the core DNET app is sensitive to too much o/c.

Check - carefully - the PSU output. Without seeing all details unhidden it maybe that you have modern cards in an older machine, and the PSU may not be able to cope, downvolts and WU hangs. Hard to be sure without knowing your PSU rating and computers unhidden.....

If it hangs, suspend the WU, then wait a couple of seconds and resume it, that will get it going again and likely go to completion - probably within 30 seconds of resuming (most times). That does not solve your root cause, but it will allow you to recover a WU without loosing crunch time, and give us access to a stderr file output as long as you are unhidden.

Actually I think it is a bit long, I do not have a 58xx on Moo right now but here is an example of one of my 5770's:
3,549.38 59.39 7,038.00 Distributed.net Client v1.02 (ati14).

There is still some tweaking you can do it seems. But at least you ARE crunching, that is a start!!

In a word .... terrible :) A dual 5870 will run it in around 13-14 mins depending on clocks.

However, stable is good .... so no immediate cause for thinking Armagedeon has occured, just need to find out whats going on. To do the latter we need to have a simple level playing field.

- Please make sure you are not running any CPU WUs from any Project
- Suspend all projects on that machine except Moo so we are certain none get in the way of any test
- Keep the card at stock speed until we resolve this, and is not o/c
- Please post the make and rating of your PSU
- Post the temperature reading of the CPU. If you need a utility for that download from here: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ select 32bit or 64 bit download as appropriate (do not run 32 bit CoreTemp on a 64 bit machine)
- Post temperature reading of the GPUs using GPU-Z. You can download it from here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ Dont download the second option - download the top one of the two
- Post the time of the next WU run at stock CPU & GPU speeds when you give us your PSU rating and make

There maybe some delays in resolving this as it looks like Teemu is doing some server maintenence, however you can still give completion timings by watching BOINC Client as the WU finishes.

well i'd rather check this:

Preferences for this project

Distributed.net Client core
Allows setting the core used by client. Set this to a number of a specific core that performs better for your hosts. Setting to -1 means auto-select.

i set to 3 (is there any better option??)

previously nothing was checked/selected
And I think it help alot
heres link to the stats:
http://moowrap.net/results.php?userid=1508&offset=0&show_names=0&state=3&appid=

waiting for Validation but the run time is now around: 1,696.44 sec

as i said before
I don't OC anything, for the test i crunch only Moo
My PSU is COrsair HX 650W (on other boxex with 2GPU i have 750W and 850W)

You are getting normal run times now for a 5870 which is good news. Looks like Teemu is narrowing down the problem(s), its just the small WUs and Validator suspended at present.

Happy Crunching :)

Just to let you know that maintenance is now over and everything should be running normally.

There was no problem as such, but just a DB maintenance and deployment of new Small WUs for low-end GPUs. Tiny WUs are now intended only for CPUs. (It's not a problem if these get crunched by GPUs, only their size/runtime is different.) Additionally, I enabled some new verifications in the validator now that old WUs have been crunched away.

As always, please inform me if you see something that doesn't look correct after changes. Thanks!

because it has impact on Moo WU crunch time

No, its fine, continue running CPU WUs as you wish. Only thing to be aware of is GPUs do need some CPU assist, they cant do all of it by themselves. The level of assist is shown inside BAM on the task crunching list. At present Moo is 0.05 CPU per GPU.

In reality that figure may not have an impact at all on some Projects, because the CPU WU running is not using all the CPU anyway. Just keep an eye on the times of crunched WUs, you may or may not wish to leave a core free for GPU WUs to get that assistance without any slowdown (for any Project) - there is no simple answer, there are a multitude of factors that come into play.

when i start CPU crunching the Moo WU cruch time go back to "normal" (normal = long as hell) :)

why is so hard to cruch Moo ? :)
I've got 250mln of Dnet, 100mln Milka, 100mln Collataz, 25mln PG
and there where no such problems as it with this projects

Something is really fucked in the app

Which CPU WU were you crunching, and what was the Moo WU that was affected?

Which WU are you referring to at those Projects with those timings ?
